Overview

Cold Storage Where a 20ft Won't Fit

The 10ft is the smallest unit in our refrigerated storage container range , holding any set point from -30°C to +30°C on a footprint of 2,991 × 2,438 mm. This 10ft reefer suits sites with too little room or too little stock for a 20ft refrigerated container. Every 10ft refrigerated shipping container for sale from us is a new build: stainless lining, T-section aluminium floor and the unit set into its front wall.

Small footprint

Small Footprint, Same Temperature Range

This small refrigerated container matches the bigger reefers’ -30°C to +30°C range, as a chiller for produce, drinks and flowers or a freezer for meat and ice. The unit in the front wall leaves about 2,390 mm of inside length, room for two Australian pallets end to end, or shelving down both walls. It fits a cafe’s rear yard, the apron of a farm shed or a narrow site where a 6 m container never could. Our guide compares reefer container dimensions across every size, and our standard 10ft containers cover dry storage with no power.

Power

Three Phase or Single Phase

The standard supply is a 32 A three phase outlet at 380 to 460 V, through a 5-pin plug. Many shops, cafes and farms have no three phase, so a 240 V single phase unit can be ordered for the site instead. Its set-point range is confirmed when we quote, so name the temperature your stock needs up front. Either way, the reefer needs its own circuit from a licensed electrician, and about 1.2 m of open space around the refrigeration unit.

Delivery

Moving and Placing a 10ft

At 2,060 kg empty, a 10 ft refrigerated container is light enough for a tilt tray or a Hi-AB crane truck, the trucks that reach rear lanes and tight driveways. It needs a level, firm pad and its power ready on the day. We deliver Australia-wide, and the unit can be moved again when the business or the site changes.

Compliance

Standards That Apply

The box follows ISO 668 for the 10ft (1D) footprint and ratings and ISO 1496-2 for thermal container construction and testing, and it carries a CSC safety approval plate. An electrician wires its outlet to AS/NZS 3000. Left in place as a cold store, the reefer falls under AS/NZS 5149 for refrigerating systems, and its refrigerant is work for an ARC-licensed technician only.

FAQ

Questions About the 10ft

What small businesses and farms ask most.

How much fits in a 10 foot reefer?

About 12.7 m³ of stock on about 5.5 m² of floor: two Australian pallets end to end, or shelving for cartons, crates and buckets. Inside, a reefer container 10 feet long is about 450 to 550 mm shorter than a 10ft dry container, because the refrigeration unit sits in the front wall.

Can the 10ft run on a normal power point?

No. It needs its own circuit: a 32 A three phase outlet as standard, or a 240 V single phase unit ordered for the site. Either one is wired by a licensed electrician to AS/NZS 3000, and we confirm the single phase set-point range at quote.

Can I walk into the 10ft from the front?

Yes, if you order the personnel door in the front wall. Staff walk in and out without opening the full cargo doors, which keeps more of the cold inside on a busy day. The cargo doors stay at the other end for loading pallets.

Is a 10ft cheaper to run than a 20ft?

Usually, yes. With about 12.7 m³ to cool against 28.9 m³ in a 20ft, it tends to use less power at the same set point. Actual use depends on the set point, the weather and how often the doors open, so shade and a strip curtain help.
