Air Conditioning (Split System)
A reverse-cycle unit sized at quote, two on a 40ft if needed.
Both sizes are new high cube shells lined with 50 mm EPS panels on the walls, roof and doors. Inside, the 20ft insulated shipping container measures about 5,800 × 2,250 × 2,650 mm, and the 40ft about 11,930 mm long.
Fitted on request: a reverse-cycle split system set through the wall, so the box holds a set temperature. Once it is fitted, the box needs power at the pad.
Feed and grain, drinks and dry goods, records and stock, and event storage: goods that keep better out of the heat swings of a bare steel box.
Overview
This new lined box sits in our reefer range , but it has no refrigeration unit and needs no power. It is a new high cube shipping container insulated with 50 mm EPS panels on the walls, roof and doors, for storage that must stay steadier than a bare steel box in Australian sun. Farms, food and drink businesses, event operators and anyone holding records or stock buy it for that reason. Every insulated container for sale from us is new and lined from the start, in 20ft or 40ft.
Sizes and specs
The lined sizes below are computed from our new high cube shells less the 50 mm panels, and your quote confirms them for the box you order. As an insulated storage container, the 20ft takes four Australian pallets one row deep and the 40ft takes ten.

How it works
The panels slow heat getting into the box by day and out of it at night, so the inside swings less than a bare steel container in direct sun, and less moisture condenses on the stock. There is no refrigeration unit and nothing to plug in. That also means it is not a fridge: it slows temperature change but holds no set temperature. When goods need one, fit air conditioning or choose a reefer, which holds anywhere from -30°C to +30°C. For an insulated office, see our site office containers.
Air conditioning
With air conditioning fitted, the box becomes an air conditioned shipping container that holds a set temperature, for wine, medicines, electronics or stock that must not overheat. We fit a reverse-cycle split system through the wall, sized to the box and the job at quote, and a 40ft insulated shipping container can take two, as our 40ft site offices do. Reverse-cycle units heat as well as cool. The box then needs a power supply at the pad, wired by a licensed electrician. Air conditioning is an option, not the standard: without it the box is passive and needs no power.
New, not ex-fleet
Search for insulated boxes and you will also find non-operating reefers: refrigerated containers whose unit has been removed, usually when the machinery is retired at around 12 years old. Those bodies are foam-cored, with a stainless lining and an aluminium T-section floor. Ours is a different product: a new high cube shell lined from the start with EPS panels, with its own 28 mm marine plywood floor and standard double cargo doors. Where a passive box cannot meet the temperature a job needs, a working reefer can, and our guide explains how a reefer works.
Compliance
The shell is a high cube built to the dimensions and ratings in ISO 668. Anything electrical fitted to the box, from lights and power points to air conditioning, is wired to AS/NZS 3000 by a licensed electrician. The split system is installed by a technician holding an ARC licence, because fitting one means handling refrigerant.

10ft reeferFAQ
What buyers ask about the lined box.
A container lined with insulated panels, so the inside changes temperature more slowly than a standard box. Ours is a new 20ft or 40ft high cube lined with 50 mm EPS panels on the walls, roof and doors. With no refrigeration unit, it works as an insulated storage unit rather than a fridge.
No. A refrigerated container, or reefer, has its own refrigeration unit and holds a set point from -30°C to +30°C. An insulated box has no unit, so it slows temperature change but cannot hold a set point without air conditioning. If your goods have a temperature limit, choose a reefer or add air conditioning.
Yes, on request. We fit a reverse-cycle split system through the wall, sized at quote, and a 40ft can take two. Once it is fitted, the box needs a power supply at the pad, wired by a licensed electrician to AS/NZS 3000.
Two, both new high cube boxes: a 20 foot insulated container with about 35 m³ inside and a 40ft with about 71 m³. Order the insulated container 20ft or 40ft long to suit four or ten Australian pallets. For living space rather than storage, see our guide to insulated container homes.
Not as standard: a plain lined box has nothing to power. It needs a supply only when you add lights, power points or air conditioning, and a licensed electrician then wires it to AS/NZS 3000. Without power, it can sit anywhere a truck can place it.
Send the size, what you're storing, if you need air conditioning and where it's going, and we'll price the box delivered.
